This afternoon I grabbed the camera just before sunset to go and find what was happening at the creek. I took a few quick shots of this spoonbill. I did manage to get one that with a little creative cropping might look half-decent… it's not this one though 🙂
Then I remembered that I had to pick Josh up from band prcatice. Got home just on sunset and ran across the road to take some photos of the grand finale to a glorious sunset. (As usual the full-sived ones look better than the thumbnails in this post).
WOW!!! Fabulous sunset photos!! I just commented on your spoonbill picture in your other post. This one looks like it has a much paler bill than ours. I searched on roseate spoonbill, which I think is the one we have but there seems to be many variations, from a white body with a pale bill like yours, to a pink (almost like a flamingo) body with a pale bill, yet ours are quite white in the body with a bill that is a very strong pink color. Lovely!!

Thanks James.Lois, I wish it were possible to ride into the sunset, but this particualr branch line was closed to passenger trains many years ago 😦 They do use it to load freight trains with containers. I think they use the line to cart wheat at harvest time.
