Quite possibly journalists can't spell any more! It wasn't a problem while there were sub-editors who could spell, but they've probably all retired or been made redundant. I suspect that very little that gets to the web-sites of the news media is effectively edited.
Fraid not Phil. The dictionary still spells the word as discord– even for a combination of musical notes that do not harmonise. Has a similar etymology to accord, record.

The word "concord" is sometimes spelled with an "h". But usually talking about "Flight of the Conchords." 😛
