The Real Situation in Yemen

A lot of what we hear in other countries is grossly simplified by the media, filtered by our own limited experience of other cultures and then filed by relative importance in our lives- usually well behind getting milk and paying the power bill.

I have a pretty broad understanding of international affairs- at least compared with other people I know.

I know for example that there has been a lot of violence on both sides in Yemen. What the media, helpful as always, has failed to mention is that it's more complex than a democratic revolution trying to oust a corrupt regime. In fact there is a non-violent revolution taking place, alongside a violent uprising by some tribal leaders.

This blog, "A Woman From Yemen", paints a more detailed picture.

Definitely worth a quick squiz even if to remind you that when the media aren't actually lying to us, they are only telling us a little part of a big story.
