Well the editors got to this becasue the title originally said "Global Warming Aside Top End enjoys record chill." Nothing must ever be allowed to suggest any hint of scepticism at the Always Blame Climate Change ABC.

Top End enjoys record chill

The weather bureau says the last three months in Darwin have been the coldest on record.

It says the daily minimum temperature in the Northern Territory capital has fallen below 20 degrees Celsius for the last 93 days.

Duty forecaster Mark Kersemakers says the long run of cool nights and mornings beats the record set in 1976.

He says it also sets a record for a calendar year.

Daytime temperatures over the period have generally hovered around the 29C to 33C degree marks.

On Monday, Darwin's rural area had its second-coldest night on record when the temperature fell to 8.4C degrees.
