Theme: Forgiveness

Sunday 26th

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. Matthew 18:20-22

The theme this week is forgiving those who hurt us. To be free to move in the ways of the Holy Spirit we must, like God, constantly be prepared to forgive those who sin against us. Forgiveness is a choice that we make not to hold offence. Who do you need to forgive?

Monday 27th

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? Matthew 5:44-46

It's easy to love friends, but it's hard to love those who position themselves against us and deliberately hurt us- either with words or with more violent means. Who are the enemies Jesus asks you to forgive, love and pray for? Ask God for the grace to do this.
