Last night was one of those nights when I just couldn't settle to sleep.
I itched all over, I tossed, I turned.
Finally I decided to get up and have a Panadol to see if that would soothe me sufficiently to get some sleep.
As I padded out of the room, I noticed that the clock said 1:45.I thought it could only be about 12:30, so perhaps I had been to sleep after all.
I continued downstairs and felt the need to spend some quality time in prayer. I didn't have any particular direction just the urge to pray. I prayed for my family and the for every person in our church.
I can't say that heaven descended and the angels sang to me. It did feel good to be spending time talking with my Father. And I did get some revelations about how to pray for some of the people.
I went back to bed after an hour and slept soundly.
I know many people have trouble sleeping. It might be worth considering that when this is happening, perhaps God is calling you to pray in the night. To be a disciple of Jesus means being on call 24/7, attentive to the needs of our Lord.
Sometimes the test of your obedience might be simply to respond to an urge to pray when you would rather be sleeping.
And so the prayful insomniac society spreads 🙂

Indeed. I have this long-term vision of 24/7 prayer. It's not how I imagined it though 😀

I guess that's what happens in a 'new thing'.

that night king Ahasuerus couldn't go to sleep ( Est 6:1 ), he's lying there restless. No doubt God was in the restlessness.

I think we too often expect that God should work at our convenience. Actually it should be the other way around- we are here to serve Him, convenient or not.
