Today’s Photos

This morning we had an unusual visitation. About 20 pelicans arrived in the creek. This is by far the biggest number I have seen there for a few years. I suspect that they are here because it is getting much drier further west.

For those unfamiliar with the Narrabri ecology, we have this strange bloom of small plants on our waters at this time of the year. What looks like slime or mud is actually myriads of tiny plants which float on top of the water- they are complete with leaves, stem and roots. When the weather heats up they die off until next spring.
