Why would God choose a blind man to have a hugely effective healing ministry? It doesn't seem to make much sense but God chooses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.
Mike Endicott's biography is told in a very honest way. He shares of his early life working in industry before a disease gradually took away his sight. His escape plan was to go into the ministry, but he wasn't accepted. He found himself instead with a passion for healing the sick through prayer. This developed over time into a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the Kingdom of God in the world.
At a time when he was feeling particularly frustrated with the low success rate of healing prayer generally, he had an extended vision in which he saw that all effective prayer is supposed to flow out of our relationship with Jesus. The way he describes it is that we are supposed to carry Jesus around the place and let Him do the healing, the miracles and so on.
The key is the cross. Jesus' death on the cross moves us from death to life, from curse to blessing, from hell to heaven and from sickness to health. When we thank Jesus for what he has done for us on the cross, healing starts to flow as a consequence.
This is a simple but engaging book, the story of one man's discovery of the keys to God's kingdom.
