Last night we had some friends staying in the church on their way through to Rockhampton. They are early birds and went to bed before 8 pm.
We went to bed at a civilised time, but were awoken by the phone at 12.30. A man was ringing from our car park wanting somewhere to stay overnight. He was heading for Gilgandra but couldn't continue any further- I don't blame him for not continuing as that road is particularly bad when you are tired. We couldn't open up the church where our other guests were already asleep. Eventually we decided to put him up on the sofa bed in our lounge room.
We were very much reminded of this parable.
We went back to bed and neither of us slept until about 4 o'clock. Then we got up at 6.30 to discover that all of our guests had disappeared, making their beds behind them.
The rest of the day was full on with people. There weren't any particular problems or difficulties, just lots of people from pastors to people buying prams or Tim's old Subaru.
I think it was a godly and productive day. But it was hard work!
