Muslim set out to disprove Bible, but a funny thing happened after he read it

From God Reports:Muslim set out to disprove Bible, but a funny thing happened after he read it

Mubashir’s consecration to Islam was perfect.

“I was honoured to be a teacher at Koran school in India,” he told International Christian Response. “I felt so full of satisfaction in both my role and my dedication to my path.

“My dedication to Koran was all-encompassing, all-consuming.”

In his zeal to strengthen the Muslim population in India (which registers at 14%, well behind the Hindu majority of 80%), he threw himself into studying comparative religion.

Cracking open a Bible to better expose its errors (he thought), he began reading the New Testament. It was a strange sensation. What he had been told about the Bible didn’t line up with what was written in the Bible.

Muslims in India

“I was amazed by the love and acceptance and forgiveness that I found in the pages of the Christian scriptures,” he recalls. “Jesus as God-become-man captured my attention. He became one of us in order to save us.”

Inevitably, he turned his life over to Jesus and became a Christian. He lost his job at the Koran school.

“My parents didn’t want to have anything to do with me,” he adds. “I quickly went with my friends and neighbors to share the good news, but they rejected me too.”

The rejection turned violent.

“The next thing I knew, I was being dragged out of my house and beaten so severely that I had to be hospitalized for some time,” he recounts. “With no job, I had no way to pay my medical bills and was frightened for my future.”

Thankfully, International Christian Response intervened and helped him start a new, independent life.

Quote for the Day

Satan can’t do a thing to us unless he first gets God’s permission. Remember God allowed Satan to test Job. The only time God gives Satan permission is when God sees the tremendous potential in the thing passing through us and coming out as joy, pure joy! Merlin Carothers

Reflection on Matthew 13: 44-58

Scripture

“The kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.”

Observation

Jesus tells more parables about the kingdom.

The kingdom of Heaven is like a man who finds treasure in a field. He sells everything he has in order to buy that field. Again, the kingdom is like a merchant who comes across a pearl of great value. He sells everything to buy the pearl.

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a fishing net that catches fish of all kinds. A sorting takes place, like the judgement that will happen at the day of judgement.

Jesus travels to Nazareth where the people reject Him because they saw Him grow up as a normal person. Consequently, Jesus could only do a few miracles there.

Application

God’s Kingdom is more valuable than anything else in this life. Like a man who finds treasure or a merchant finding a pearl, the kingdom has to be our number one priority.

For many Christians, their belief is just a part of life. But when you really understand how great God’s love for you is, then you realise that serving the Lord has to be everything.

This is not about going into ministry. Every Christian is called to serve God full-time, just not necessarily in preaching ministry.

Jesus is telling us here that everything – money, career, family, where we live, possessions – all of this is at God’s disposal because the kingdom of heaven is worth more than all of it.

Walking in friendship with God is the most precious thing any of us will ever have.

Prayer

Father, thank you for the kingdom of God. Please help me to always put you first in every part of my life. Amen.

Quote for the Day

We say we believe in God. But do we really believe that He controls every detail of our lives, or do we think He’s off on more important business? Jesus said that God knows how many hairs we have on our heads. So why can’t we believe that He is more intimately concerned with every detail of our lives than we are ourselves? Merlin Carothers
