Scripture
You boasted, O Tyre, “My beauty is perfect!”
Observation
Ezekiel continues his long prophecy against the city of Tyre.
He compares Tyre to a ship built with the finest materials, cedar from Lebanon, blue and purple sails, craftsmen and sailors from around the world.
Tyre traded with all the nations. People even came from Tarshish (Spain) to trade.
But the ship has sailed into a storm. Everything is lost. The riches on board as well as the people. Who has ever known a city such as Tyre now at the bottom of the sea?
The merchants who traded with Tyre satisfied many nations, but now Tyre is itself a ship at the bottom of the sea.
Application
Tyre boasted in its great beauty and its wealth, but it would not survive the wrath of the Lord.
In recent days we’ve seen riots all over France. What started as protests against school facilities has been hijacked by radical leftists and Muslims determined to destroy the nation.
Just as Tyre failed at the hands of the Lord, it seems many European countries are failing.
Is this the consequence of the radical dumping of Christianity in the 1960s? Without a coherent worldview, Western civilisation has been left vulnerable to every weird philosophy that comes out of the heads of men and demons.
We must return to the Lord to survive and flourish.
Listen
Lord, what more do you want to say to me about the destiny of nations which abandoned you?
Keith, pride was the heart of Tyre’s downfall as it has been at the heart of the recent decline in the West.
The answer is for people to humble themselves, turn to me and repent. Then I will heal their land.
I will call many to myself and the power of the Holy Spirit will unleash love and unity in France and other places,
While ever people remain fixated on their own desires, their can be no national cohesion or sense of belonging together.
