The Question That May Not Be Answered

It seems that nobody knows what a woman is any more.Despite calls for “equality” and respect for women, nobody can tell us what a woman is- not a US Supreme Court judge, not political leaders, not even the Australian Department of Health.

Remember when we were promised that the redefinition of marriage was not a slippery slope, the thin end of a woke wedge? Well here we are in 2022 in a crazy world where people dare not answer the queston, “What is a woman?”

From the Canberra Declaration

Senator Alex Antic Asked ‘What is a Woman?’ and the Department of Health Couldn’t Answer

With one simple question, Senator Alex Antic this week revealed just how real the ‘slippery slope’ is. Five years ago we undefined marriage. Now Australia’s top medical minds can’t define a woman.

Can Australia’s Department of Health define what a woman is? This was the burning question that Liberal Senator for South Australia Alex Antic took to Senate estimates in Canberra this week.

The response given by the department’s head revealed just how far Australia has drifted from reality since the undefinition of marriage took place in 2017.

“I can’t seem to get a bureaucrat in this building to define what is a woman,” Senator Antic explained to his followers on social media soon after the exchange. “Today, I took it right to the top, straight to the Department of Health, and [received] one of the most extraordinary responses I’ve seen to date.”

Defining a Woman: ’Pretty Basic Stuff’

In a short one-minute video that has had over 150,000 views on Twitter since Wednesday, Senator Antic asks a panel of five of Australia’s top medical experts:

I’m going to finish up … with a very simple question for the department, and that is one which has troubled me for a great deal of time with the bureaucracy here. Can someone please provide me with a definition of what a woman is?

After a period of silence and blank stares, Antic probes further. “Department of Health,” he says incredulously. “Definition of a man. Definition of a woman. Anyone?”

“It’s pretty basic,” someone off camera can be heard saying. “Basic stuff,” Antic adds.

Professor Brendan Murphy, the Secretary of the Department of Health, begins moving uncomfortably in his chair, realising that he is the most senior figure in the room.

“There, look, I think there are a variety of definitions, and I think… Perhaps to give a more fulsome answer we should take that on notice,” he tells the Senator.

Antic is taken aback, asking, “You’re going to take on notice the question of what a woman is?”

“No, well there are a variety of… it’s a very, it’s a very, ah… it’s a very contested space at the moment Senator,” Professor Murphy continues. “There are definitions in terms of how people identify themselves so we’re happy to provide our working definition on that.”

Antic’s response couldn’t have been more appropriate. “I’ve only been here two years,” he remarks. “That’s the best thing I’ve seen thus far. Thank you so much.”

The Slippery Slope is Real

For thousands of years and until very recently, it was universally understood that a woman is an adult human female. The definition of “female” was also set in stone: the sex that can give birth to young or produce eggs.

These definitions were present across cultures, but in the West they were grounded in Scripture. The Bible sheds immense light on the dignity, value and calling of men and women. The foundational text is Genesis 1:27, which declares, “God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

Bible-believing Christians and other conservatives warned that by introducing same-sex “marriage”, Western nations would de-gender marriage and lay the groundwork for the abolition of gender altogether.

Within just years, this “slippery slope argument”, once mocked by progressives, turns out to have been entirely accurate. Gender is now widely seen as a mere social construct, not grounded in objectivity.

Unmoored from a biblical understanding of reality, the West is losing its moral and intellectual compass.

The Green Industrial Revolution Is A Lie

As we gear up for a Federal election in May, you can be sure that Labor and the Greens will peddle the fantasy about “Green Jobs”. It is a lie, like the one about renewable energy being cheaper than coal, not to mention the whole climate change scam.

Ben Pile writes on spiked:

The green industrial revolution is a lie

The UK’s green sector has not grown in nearly a decade.

The green industrial revolution is a lie

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) published data earlier this month which showed that the UK’s ‘low-carbon and renewable-energy economy’ (LCREE) had not grown significantly between 2014 and 2020. This performance is a far cry from the promises of plentiful ‘green jobs’ and a ‘green industrial revolution’ that have echoed around Westminster for the past decade and more. It turns out that the much heralded green growth was nothing more than mould.

This news should surprise no one. As I have argued elsewhere on spiked, the green industrial revolution is a lie. Since the 2008 Climate Change Act, successive governments have embraced the fantasy of leading the world in the ‘transition’ to a low-carbon economy. And it’s all been to no avail. The rest of the world continues to increase its consumption of fossil fuels despite endless COP meetings, and Britain’s green industrial revolution stubbornly fails to materialise.

Back in 2009, the then Labour government, led by Gordon Brown, claimed the green economy was already thriving. He promised to add 400,000 new ‘green jobs’, taking the total number of people working in the green sector to 1.3million. These claims were based on proprietary data produced by an economic research company, which refused to share its data, as did the government even after freedom-of-information requests.

Even without access to the data, I was already able to point out in 2009 that growth in the ‘green economy’ is an illusion – or better still, an accountancy trick. The government was effectively compelling sectors of the economy, through a variety of green regulations, to ‘decarbonise’ their operations. It was then adding said sectors to the green economy and so the green economy appeared to be growing. This was happening even when the sectors in question had been harmed and diminished by the new regulations.

It took me until 2013 to obtain the data on which successive governments were basing their figures, policies and predictions. By then, it was being claimed that the ‘green economy’ was worth £122 billion. But it had only reached this size because the figure included sectors of the economy that simply do not qualify as ‘green’ in any meaningful sense. It even included the production, transportation and sale of liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas – otherwise known as fossil fuels – merely because such businesses were now subject to environmental regulation. My analysis at the time suggested that through such tricks, the government’s financial wizards had inflated the value of the ‘green economy’ by something in the region of 700 per cent.

Here Be Dragons

In ancient times map makers would write in Latin “Here be lions” to mark the unknown land beyond the borders of the map. In medieval times they would draw dragons and other fearful mythical creatures to warn the traveller that unknown dangers lurked off the map. Other cartographers would write “Terra incognita” or unknown land.

Today, politicians talk of “the regions” in the same way. “The regions” are scary places outside of “Greater Sydney” where they elect strange people like Barnaby Joyce, wear funny hats and stand in paddocks all day watching sheep and cows graze. To these people, the people who make the rules that govern our lifestyle here in “the regions”, there is no difference between Byron Bay and Broken Hill, Mudgee and Moree, Narrabri and Nambucca.

That explains why in Narrabri, where there has never been a single case of Covid within 100 km of us, we have to wear masks and limit the number of visitors we can have in our homes. Apparently if somebody coughs in Katoomba we could catch it in Narrabri. You can’t be too careful.

Every election time, the Nationals come out and tell us that they are the only ones who can represent country voters in the NSW Government. That is working out well for us. When John Barilaro makes his empty promises about relaxing the rules “in the regions” you can tell he has been captured by Sydney.

In Goondiwindi, and right through Western Queensland there are no mandatory mask rules. In Boggabilla on the NSW side of the border, of course they have to wear masks indoors. It is a sad day when a Labor Queensland Premier understands her state better than the Liberal/ National leaders do in NSW.

To be honest, I don’t care too much about politics, but I am worried when our elected leaders and their unelected advisers continue to impose rules on the 95% of NSW that is not “Greater Sydney” with such little knowledge and even less concern.

Australian Politics This Month

Politics this month can be summarised as some woman got too drunk and was possibly sexually assaulted by an equally drunk guy in a minister’s office. Apparently this is a sign of a “toxic culture” because we can’t trust women to regulate their own behaviour around alcohol, but men must be more responsible.

In related news, the Attorney-General was accused of sex with a 16 year old when he was 17 several decades ago. The complainant suffered from “mental health” issues and committed suicide so no criminal charges can be brought, because there is no evidence. But he is guilty of being a man so again part of the toxic culture.

In New South Wales state politics, an MP apparently paid a prostitute to meet him in an isolated location for non-penetrative sex. it is claimed that he “raped” this woman. He too must go.

Do you see a common thread here? Men are being accused of things publicly by women and because of the accusation they are automatically assumed to be guilty.

Meanwhile the women in the Opposition claim they want the allegedly toxic culture “fixed” presumably to their satisfaction. But they think the way to do this is by insulting the Prime Minister until he fixes it.

Welcome to our feministic power structure. This is a perfect illustration of Dalrock’s Law of Feminism:

Dalrock’s Law of Feminism:  Feminism is the assertion that men are evil and naturally want to harm women, followed by pleas to men to solve all of women’s problems.

Breaking News: Tony Abbott Obeyed the Law

The Left absolutely loathe former PM Tony Abbott, even years after he left office.

So no surprise that former low achieving NSW Premier and current non-achieving Senator Kristina Kennealy accused him of *shock* riding his bike in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney, the heart of the current coronavirus lockdown.

Naturally this accusation has been aired in all the mainstream media. Naturally the Police investigated the claim. Naturally the claim was half true- Tony did ride his bike, but that is allowed in the current regulations.

If this sort of nonsense is the best the Federal Labor Party can come up with, they don’t deserve a single vote at any election.

Charles Moore, ‘Mrs Thatcher’s Vicar on Earth’ takes over the BBC.

From The Salisbury Review, some good news for the UK.

Charles Moore, ‘Mrs Thatcher’s Vicar on Earth’ takes over the BBC.

The proposed appointment of Charles Moore, ‘Mrs Thatcher’s Vicar on Earth’ to head the BBC along with Paul Dacre, the left’s idea of what Lucifer might be like, as head of Ofcom, shows Boris has not lost his touch. These appointments, along with Brexit, will have consequences that will be with us long after Covid 19 is a footnote in history.

With the coincidental arrival of Laurence Fox’s anti cancel movement the two appointments should spell the demise of wokery, its works and its pomps. The success of a revolution depends on the electorate feeling they now have ‘permission’ to think thoughts which yesterday were considered utterly wicked.

Fox is that rather rare species, a film star who is not a political empty head, and the ‘halo effect,’ (people find it hard to resist believing that good looking people are not good) will ensure his success. He has already raised £5 million in donations. Let’s hope he makes wise use of it.

These events also spell the end of the ‘Boris has lost it’ myth. Emanating from Whitehall, this rumour is designed to have Boris ejected from office by the end of November latest, in order that a Remainer Tory can take his place and agree to the Brexit talks being extended by 12 months.

By the end of that period nothing will remain of the original agreement, and we will be a full colony of the EU.

Wow! Now you can get arrested if you might commit a crime

This is Australia- well its socialist enclave of Victoria- in 2020. The pandemic is the excuse our petty dictators needed to just ignore the rule of law altogether.

From caldronpool:

Pre-Crime: Victorian Government Pushes for Powers to Preemptively Arrest Anyone, Even If They Haven’t Broken the Law

Mainstream media are finally reporting on the Victorian government’s new bill to hand authorities the power to arrest anyone, even if they have not committed an offence.

10 News Melbourne reports: “[The] new law would give police the power to preemptively detain anyone with COVID or their close contacts even if they haven’t broken the law. All that’s required is that the officer thinks they might breach restrictions in the future.”

The report notes that the Health Department could also empower non-police, such as Public Safety Officers or Work Safe Inspectors, to preemptively detain citizens.Advertisement

The new legislation places “no limit on detention time, no legislative oversight and no clear avenue for appeal.” Those detained could be placed in quarantine facilities to be monitored by authorities.

The law could see the arrest, not only of anyone the state deems a “conspiracy theorist” and therefore likely to neglect current restrictions, but also their family members and close contacts even if a crime has not been committed.
