Casey Chalk: Texting With AI Jesus

From firstthings.com

Want to talk to the Son of God? There’s an app for that. Text With Jesus, a Los Angeles–based product that launched in July, replicates an instant messaging platform and features biblical figures impersonated by the artificial intelligence program ChatGPT.

Among the characters available on the app are the Holy Family, the apostles, various prophets, Ruth, Job, and Abraham’s nephew Lot. Mary Magdalene is also available, but only to premium subscribers for $2.99 a month. You can even chat with Satan, who signs his texts with a “smiling face with horns” emoji.

Perhaps such an app provokes fears of blasphemy. Not to worry: Stéphane Peter, the app’s developer and the company’s CEO, ensured that character responses always include a Bible verse. “Our AI always generates responses that are in line with the teachings of the Bible,” explains the website. He also invited unnamed “church leaders” to try the beta version of the app. Though some pastors had reservations at the beginning, the app’s final version received “pretty good feedback.”

Text With Jesus’s characters typically avoid any stance that might be perceived as offensive, instead maintaining a line of inclusivity and tolerance. If asked about gay marriage, for instance, the app will respond that it is “up to each individual to seek guidance from their own faith tradition and personal convictions,” and that users should “prioritize love and respect for all people regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity” (followed by a rainbow and red heart emoji). If queried about feminism, app Jesus will explain the importance of “empowering women and breaking societal barriers that limited their opportunities.”

So far, so “healthy.” The app aligns with our clinical culture, which emphasizes personal affirmation and physical and mental wellness. Text With Jesus offers a moral, therapeutic god for a moral, therapeutic age, as sociologist Christian Smith calls it in his 2005 book Soul Searching. It replaces the arcane “second person of the Trinity” with Jesus the therapist and social worker.

This Jesus is not here to condemn (obviating less “warm and fuzzy” Gospel episodes such as the improperly dressed wedding guest of Matthew 22:1–14, or Jesus’s statements about the “Sign of Jonah” in Luke 11:29–32). He is here to affirm us and our behaviors and opinions. He certainly wouldn’t want you to feel bad about yourself and repent (unless you are repenting of “bigoted,” “patriarchal,” or “fascist” opinions on race, sex, or gender).

Text With Jesus represents the age-old human vice of pride. Through our creativity and brilliance, we seek to ascend to God’s level, to be like him, and even to dictate terms to the divine. Or rather, the app is a diabolical inversion of this: Instead of being transformed into God’s image, we aim to make him into our own. Is seeking to communicate with and control God through a handheld device really all that different from the ancient metalworkers who fashioned little totems to whom they could offer supplication for their own health and prosperity?

The app’s insistence that its content is “Bible-based” is curious, given that the biblical characters sidestep Scripture’s more controversial and provocative claims. It does then seem to reflect the embarrassing biblical illiteracy even of those claiming to be Christians, and that people, even the pious, tend to prefer a religion that avoids uncomfortable truths in favor of what we want to hear.

Yet perhaps most sadly, that Text With Jesus would even be conceived and consumed reveals how deeply wedded we have become to our smartphones. Prayer is such a remarkable human experience because of its universality, both in terms of who can do it (everyone) and where it can be done (anywhere). I pray in my bedroom, on my commute, waiting in line, and while exercising. I can pray the divine liturgy, a rosary, or simply talk and listen.

Indeed, one of the most beautiful things about Christian prayer is the quality of the access. “Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. . . . If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:9–10, 13) What has happened to us, that anyone would contemplate inserting a gimmicky Silicon Valley tool into something so profoundly human and liberating? (I should note that I do not intend to “throw shade” on apps such as Magnificat or Hallow that help facilitate prayer through Scripture readings, meditations, or the divine liturgy.)

To be a people formed by prayer, we Christians need to protect and cultivate our little spiritual gardens, where we can let Jesus be himself, in all his terrifying glory. Because it is in “practicing in the presence” that we can appreciate the reality of an omnipotent, omniscient God who deigns to care about us and our problems. But in order to walk with him, and talk with him, and share that joy, I wager we’ll need to put our phones on silent.

Charges Dropped Against Christian Woman Arrested After Silently Praying in Her Head Outside Clinic — but She Plans to Continue the Battle

U.K. authorities have dropped charges against a charity worker who was criminally charged for praying near an abortion clinic, but her case might be far from over.

Listen to the latest episode of CBN’s Quick Start podcast 👇

Crown Prosecution Service’s (CPS) charges against Isabel Vaughan-Spruce have been dismissed, but she has no plans of stepping away from the legal battle.

According to a press release from her attorneys with Alliance Defending Freedom UK, Vaughan-Spruce “will continue to await justice as she states her intention to pursue full dismissal of her charges.”

Uncertainty as to her legal rights has led the charity worker to fear potential new charges or legal issues moving forward, so she’s looking for a “clear verdict in court.”

“Given the nature of Vaughan-Spruce’s regular voluntary work in offering charitable support to women in crisis pregnancies near abortion facilities, the discontinuance has left her with significant legal unclarity moving forward, given that CPS made clear that the charges ‘may well start again’ in the near future subject to further evidential review,” the statement reads.

As CBN News previously reported, Vaughan-Spruce, the director of the UK March for Life, was arrested in Birmingham, England, this past December after she said she “might” be silently praying when questioned as to why she was standing on a public street near an abortion clinic.

Vaughan-Spruce was reportedly silent before police approached her and had no signage in her hands. Her offense? According to CBN News, authorities received complaints from an onlooker who suspected she was praying silently in her mind in a so-called “censorship zone.”

Video of her police encounter went viral and sparked an international reaction. Vaughan-Spruce can be seen in the clip interacting with police and explaining she “might” be praying in her head but isn’t protesting. “You’re under arrest,” a cop proclaims in the viral video before detaining her.

The City of Birmingham maintains buffer zones around abortion clinics; these designations render it illegal for people to engage “in any act of approval or disapproval” surrounding abortion, including through “verbal or written means, prayer or counseling.”

Through Vaughan-Spruce’s ADF UK attorneys, she explained why she’s forging on to seek a more definitive conclusion clarifying her legal rights.

“It can’t be right that I was arrested and made a criminal, only for praying in my head on a public street,” she said. “So-called ‘buffer zone legislation’ will result in so many more people like me, doing good and legal activities like offering charitable support to women in crisis pregnancies, or simply praying in their heads, being treated like criminals and even facing court.”

Vaughan-Spruce said she wants to be able to continue her pro-life charity work and, in order do to so, she wants to have a clear legal status.

“Many of us need an answer as to whether it’s still lawful to pray silently in our own heads,” she continued. “That’s why I’ll be pursuing a verdict regarding my charges in court.”

Silent Prayer Now A Thought Crime in UK

Silent prayer, just looking like you might be praying, is now a crime in some parts of the UK.

Thoughtcrime is now a reality in Britain

Why was an activist arrested for praying silently in the street?

TopicsFREE SPEECHPOLITICSUK

A recent event in suburban Birmingham offers a stark reminder of the threat to free speech posed by Britain’s censorious state.

Earlier this month, Isabel Vaughan-Spruce was standing silently in a public street. She was doing, saying and displaying absolutely nothing, apparently lost in thought. A policeman approached her. He asked if she was inwardly praying. When she said she might have been, he immediately arrested her, took her to a police station and searched her. Last week, Vaughan-Spruce was told she faces prosecution.

How did this happen? First, Vaughan-Spruce was known to be a member of a pro-life organisation. And second, she was within 150 metres of an abortion clinic, inside a so-called buffer zone. In September, Birmingham City Council introduced a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), which makes any ‘act of approval or disapproval’ toward abortion in the surroundings of the clinic a criminal offence, on pain of a £1,000 fine. This restriction applies to any expression related to abortion services, by any method: whether by graphic, verbal or written means, prayer or counselling, or in any other way. So Vaughan-Spruce’s alleged silent prayer was apparently enough. Someone had disapproved of her presence and asked the police to get rid of her. All the ploddingly literal-minded copper needed was Vaughan-Spruce’s admission that she might have been privately communing with her god and might therefore have been illegally praying in a restricted area.

Whatever your view on abortion, even if you are strongly pro-choice, this whole episode should worry you immensely. The implications for personal liberty are terrifying. If an arrest for silent prayer is not an instance of Orwellian ‘thoughtcrime’, then I don’t know what is.

Worse still, the restrictions set out in the PSPO give the police huge scope to silence outspoken campaigners. Police can order someone they believe to be breaking a PSPO’s rules to leave the area immediately and to give their name and address. Alleged rulebreakers can also be arrested or fined. After Vaughan-Spruce’s arrest, matters only got worse. As part of her conditions of bail, she was banned from engaging in public prayer, even outside the bounds of the PSPO. Initially, she was even told not to have any contact with a local Catholic priest active in the pro-life movement (though this condition has since been dropped). Nobody should ever be subject to such draconian restrictions on their expression.

Becky Dvorak: Speak “To” and “Not About” that Mountain

Speak “To” and “Not About” that Mountain

So often, people speak about the mountain, the problem, the sickness or disease when Jesus clearly says to us in Matthew 17:20 that we are to speak to the mountain. “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

As a healing evangelist people say they want to speak to me about their healing, but what I often find out is that what they really want to discuss with me is about the sickness, the disease, the weakness, or the problem. And as I try to teach them about God’s healing power, and how to activate it in their lives they continue to go back to the disease. This scenario is a prime example of someone that speaks “About”, and “Not to” that mountain.

When we speak “About” the sickness we magnify it with our words. We actually give it more power, more strength inside our bodies. It is like when a man verbally beats down his wife, eventually his daily beating breaks her down, and he reaps what he sows, a sick relationship. The physical body responds the same way. It will become weak and sick as we continue to speak ill words over it. And I doubt that is what we desire.

Our Lord, Jesus Christ teaches us that “If we have faith as a mustard seed, we will say “To” this mountain to ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move.” If this mountain standing in front of you is sickness you will say to it, “Get out of my body in Jesus’ name”. If you believe in the power of the words you speak it will happen.

It all comes down to two things, the first being responsibility, and the second is choice. In Isaiah 53:4-5 he Great Physician, Jesus Christ has already released His healing power for us. But just as it is with the gift of Salvation so too is this great gift of healing that our Lord gave to us by the power of His shed blood.

But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains; yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken,
struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; the punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, and by His stripes (wounds) we are healed, Isaiah 53:4-5, AMP.

This healing promise must first be believed and then it can be received into our bodies. But it is a choice to believe or not to believe, this is part of our free will. And with free will comes great responsibility. And when we are responsible with God’s promises and choose to believe in God’s promise we reap the blessing of all of His benefits.

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s, Psalm 103:1-5, NKJV.

God gives to us His promise for healing, and He also tells us what we must do, “Believe”, and then we speak words of faith “To” and “Not about” the disease. And when we follow His instruction His promise comes to pass, and we are healed.

Keys To Receive The Holy Spirit

These keys for receiving the Holy Spirit are described in Mark Virkler’s book, “Overflow of the Spirit.” They are important for receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues, but also in our regular renewal or refilling of the Holy Spirit.

I believe also that these are important keys in praying for revival, community transformation and any personal breakthrough.

1. Believe. Hebrews 11:6 says “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Whatever we are praying for we must believe that God is wanting to give it to us. We are not talking about weak belief here but a deep trusting heart conviction that God is good and He blesses those who come to Him.

2. Desire. Do you really want more of the Holy Spirit? Do you really want revival? Are these things sweeter to you than ice cream on a hot day? Are you desperate for God to move?

3. Ask. It’s not enough to say “If it’s God’s will He will do it.” He partners with us and expects us to intercede for that which is important to us. James 2:2-3 says, “You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.” We have to ask and make sure that our asking is done with the motive to honour the Lord.

4. Unity with our brothers and sisters. We must ensure that there is no hint of contempt or even hostility and quarrelling with our christian brothers and sisters. God will not overflow in those who are at odds with His family. Confess this sin and seek the Lord’s forgiveness.

5. Yield. Every part of my will, body and mind must be submitted to God and to His purposes. I must set aside every personal ambition, pride, self-direction and totally surrender myself to God. To receive tongues I must yield my tongue, mouth and mind to Him. For other breakthroughs I must let go of my personal ambitions, expectations and judgements.

How to Hear God’s Voice

Photo by Michael Oeser on Unsplash

In the book “Overflow Of The Spirit”, Mark Virkler and others describe a way of tuning into God called “Two Way Journalling.” In Two Way Journalling, we write down a conversation, in which we ask God a question and then write what we believe He is saying back to us.

Virkler describes the constant stream of thoughts passing through our heads as a flow of ideas. Some of these thoughts are from our own head- “I am cold”, This is boring”, “I need to remember to buy milk”, and so on. Some of the thoughts are from satan: “You are no good”, “God would never talk to you”, etc. Then we have the voice of the Holy Spirit bringing revelation, exhortation and comfort. This flow is like the social media stream where all sorts of ideas just appear as we scroll through.

To hear God’s voice, we need to filter out what the other voices are saying to us and focus on God. Virkler describes a 4- step process to aid this.

1. Go to a quiet place and still your thoughts and emotions. Write down the things that might distract you and put them to one side. Breathe steadily and slow your body down.”Be still and know that I am God.”

2. Focus on Jesus. Play worship music, start to worship Jesus aloud with your words. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you.

3. Recognise that the voice of the Holy Spirit is heard in the spontaneous flow of thoughts. Having quieted your mind and focused on Jesus, the thoughts in your head are more likely to be the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Listen. Receive.

4. Write down your prayers and what it seems that God is saying to you. Let it be spontaneous and flowing. Don’t analyse anything. Listen and write.

Later, read over what you have written. Does it agree with Scripture? Does it sound like Jesus? Show trusted christians and ask their opinion.

We are not saying that this is the definitive way to listen to the Spirit of God. It is a way to sharpen our focus on the Holy Spirit and to learn to walk in a lifestyle of being led by the Spirit.

“Living by the Spirit means intentionally staying tuned to the flow within, which is the Spirit, the living water that flows from the throne of God.”

Jesus said that His sheep know His voice. God gives us His constant presence and regular guidance. All we need to do is learn to listen.

Caldron Pool: ‘Staggering’ Numbers of People Have Turned To God During the Pandemic, Researchers Say

From caldronpool.com

Numbers of people from the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom have been reassessing their lives, turning to God, and praying more during the coronavirus pandemic, recent surveys have revealed.

Numbers of people from the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom have been reassessing their lives, turning to God, and praying more during the coronavirus pandemic, recent surveys have revealed.

In Australia, researchers have found individuals have been praying more during the COVID-19 crisis, suggesting the pandemic has led many to reassess their priorities in life, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Of 1002 people surveyed in July, more than 35% said they were praying more, 41% said they were thinking about God more than they had before, and up to 25% said they were reading the Bible more than they used to.

Almost half of the participants said they thought more about mortality and the meaning of life.

Social researcher Mark McCrindle told the SMH: “The research is showing that this COVID situation has rattled Australians and got them thinking about the big purpose of life. It’s got them re-prioritising their life.”

In March, a US-based national survey revealed that almost half of Americans believe the virus is a “wake-up call” from God.

The poll, which was commissioned by the Joshua Fund, an Israel-based evangelical organisation, found over 43% of Americans believe the global coronavirus pandemic and economic meltdown is a sign of coming judgement and/or a wake-up call for us to turn back to faith in God.

Of the respondents, 25% of self-identified non-Christians agreed.

Almost 22% of all non-Christians responding to the poll admitted that the crisis has caused them to start reading the Bible and listening to Bible teaching and sermons online, while more than 29% of the respondents also believe the crisis reveals that “we are living in what the Bible calls the last days.”

The Pew Research Center released similar findings after surveying 11,537 Americans between March 19 and 24. According to the report, “more than half of all U.S. adults (55%) say they have prayed for an end to the spread of coronavirus.”

“Large majorities of Americans who pray daily (86%) and of U.S. Christians (73%) have taken to prayer during the outbreak — but so have some who say they seldom or never pray and people who say they do not belong to any religion (15% and 24%, respectively),” Pew Research reported.

Meanwhile, in the UK, a survey revealed a ‘staggering‘ number of 18-24 year old’s have been turning to God during the pandemic.

The survey, conducted by Savanta ComRes, interviewed 2,244 UK adults aged 18-plus. The findings revealed 45% of 18 to 34-year-olds and 49% of 25 to 34-year-olds prayed more during the month of July. That figure rose to 55% in the month of August.

According to the Telegraph, Google data reveals the pandemic has prompted a surge of interest in God, with a 50% increase in searches for prayer.

In March 2020, the share of Google searches for prayer surged to the highest level ever recorded, surpassing all other major events that otherwise call for prayer, including Christmas and Easter.

Josh Williamson, pastor at Newquay Baptist Church said: “As the old saying goes, ‘there are no atheists in foxholes,’ and it also seems that is the case when a pandemic causes people to examine their own mortality.

“I’m not surprised that people are thinking about God as the reality of death looms large; deep down in all of us is the knowledge that God exists, but what happens is that people push down that knowledge by ignoring what is plainly known,” he said.

“A crisis has a way of bringing that knowledge back to the surface.”

Joel Comiskey: The Priority of Prayer

Joel Comiskey writes:

The Priority of Prayer

By Joel Comiskey, check out Living in Victory

Most pastors and leaders are pragmatic. They want to know what will work. Immediately. Most are fascinated by techniques that promise quick growth.

Yet, the only ministry worth having is the one that God himself brings to life. And such a cell or cell church requires prayer at its very foundation—the root level. Only God can break down the barriers to growth and help the leader make disciples who make disciples. A church, in fact,  cannot survive without prayer. Norman Dowe, an experienced church planter, writes:

I have failed at planting a church twice. My first reaction is to blame my lack of giftedness on my failure. I am a pastor/teacher not an evangelist, nor an apostle. After my last fiasco, the Lord took me to Zech. 4:6 in the context of Jerubbabel rebuilding the temple. I failed not because of my gift but because of my reliance on my experience, training, and reading. I failed because I did not rely on the Spirit. I am no longer infatuated with structures but am trying to replace that with true spirituality. I read once that Cho was asked the secret to his success. He said, “I pray and obey.”

In contrast to Norman Dowe’s church planting experience, Rob Campbell, JCG board member and frequent blogger, started his church with prayer. When he planted Cypress Creek Church in Wimberley, Texas, he made prayer his first priority. He not only exemplified prayer but hired Cecilia Belvin, the pastor of prayer, as the first staff person. Today Cypress Creek Church has one of the most vital prayer ministries in existence. God has blessed this church abundantly because they’ve placed Him first.

All of us should follow Paul’s exhortation, which he wrote from a Roman prison at the end of his life:

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone (Colossians 4:2-4).

Leading a cell or a cell church is  a spiritual battle. Satan and his demonic hordes laugh at powerless, prayerless ministers.  These same dark forces become extremely worried when we dedicate ourselves to fervent and effectual prayer.

I recommend that each leader find a group of intercessors to pray for them(Peter Wagner’s book Prayer Shield, talks about how to do this). Inform these people about what’s happening in your life and ministry. They will become your prayer shield and help provide guidance and direction in your life and ministry. They will serve as your protection and covering.

“Jesus, help us to become men and women of prayer.”

Don’t Agree Things Are a Pain in the Butt Unless You Want a Pain in Your Butt

From Mark Virkler’s blog

Don’t Agree Things Are a Pain in the Butt Unless You Want a Pain in Your Butt – By Linda Burton

Last summer as we were moving furniture, I felt my lower back go out of place.  I fell to the floor crying out, “My back, my back.”  As I lay there I prayed, “Lord Jesus, please lay Your hands on my back and heal it.”  In a little bit I was able to get up and move about with discomfort but not intense pain.  Then every day I noticed less discomfort and more flexibility.

In December, I started feeling pain in my lower back and sciatic nerve in my right leg.  It was in the same place as the injury last summer so I believed it was coming from that.  I started doing exercises to strengthen my lower back and to relieve the pain.  After three weeks, the pain was still very intense and not getting better.  At this point I began questioning if there was something else going on.

I went to Jesus and quieted myself, turned to vision, tuned to the flow of the Spirit and journaled.  I asked Jesus what the root of this pain was.  I saw and heard Him laughing.  He asked, “Did you not agree with your daughter that some things in life are a real pain in the butt?”  Immediately I remembered her making that statement and my agreeing.  Oh my! Oh my!  Jesus then said, “I just gave you what you asked for!”  I saw the twinkle in His eyes and He chuckled.

Needless to say, I immediately confessed, repented and asked forgiveness for making this agreement.  When I awoke the next morning, the pain was gone and has not come back.

Jesus said, “Beloved, words come easily and agreements are made without thought.  In the Kingdom, every word is of great importance, for good or evil.  Listen to the words of your heart as you also listen to others.”

The issue my daughter was referring to was “more month than provisions.”

Soon after this experience, my daughter called and in the conversation she said, “Mom, I just don’t know how I am going to pay the electric bill.” As we were talking, she exclaimed, “I just paid the electric bill online and we have $10.00 left in the bank account! I didn’t think we even had enough.”  Together we raised a hallelujah and praised our mighty God for His provision of more than enough.  Things are still financially tight but there continues to be more than enough!

Our loving holy Papa, You are so incredibly amazing. Your majesty, goodness, and loving kindness bring us to a deep sense of awe of You!  We thank You that You are our faithful God that goes before us and prepares the way for us.  As You prepare the way, Your light illumines the way we are to go.  You never lead us astray or down a dark dead-end alley.  You are never too late or too early.  Everything about You is perfect.  Thank You for who You are in us and for who we are in You.

May we have soft and pliable hearts that respond to Your loving touches.  May we not be so busy or distracted that we forget to come and sit at Your feet and spend time with You.  May we regularly take time to celebrate life as sons and daughters of The Most High God!  Thank You, Papa, thank You! We love You!

Prayer Application for breaking agreement with lies

Examples of lying agreements to be aware of and to renounce: Pain in the neck, sick to my stomach, never enough, I cannot succeed, I am a victim of…, I am sick with …, etc.

Discernment: Lord, are there negative agreements or judgments I have made against self, others or circumstances which are now binding me and keeping me from Your bountiful provision and full health? Remind me of them. Show me what they are and how they have affected my life. Lord, speak to me Your truths which counter these lies of the enemy so I can speak them over my life. Journal out what He speaks.

Confession and repentance: I confess and repent of my sin of embracing these lies, and of living in judgment against myself, others and circumstances. I release  judgments against myself, others and circumstances which have affected my life, and acknowledge that You can and do work all things out for good (Rom. 8:28). I ask You, God, to forgive me, and I receive Your forgiveness. I forgive myself for participating in this sin.

Action: I break off the power of these word curses, and command all connected demons to leave in Jesus’ name. Jesus, cleanse the cellular memory of this trauma. Lay your hands on the ailing body part and speak health, healing and release to it, thanking God for setting you free and restoring you to full health in Jesus’ name. Jesus, I speak in faith that by Your stripes I am healed. I speak to these damaged cells to be restored in Jesus’ name. Function normally, in Jesus’ name.

Praying Beyond The Words

Prayer is an amazing privilege. It is awesome to think that we can enter into God’s presence at any time and speak freely to the Creator of all things.

Sometimes I find my words become more important than the relationship. My mind gets into praying mode, and all I think of is the words I am speaking. God becomes lost in my praying.

Tonight the Lord reminded me of this simple song. As I sang it softly, my soul settled and the Holy Spirit touched me in the quiet.

Sometimes we need that simple act of worship- a song, a prayer such as the Jesus prayer-  to re-centre our spirits and enable us to focus on God.
