Fires in Victoria

As I write this, bushfires are raging through Victoria. 35 people have been confirmed dead and dozens more are in hospital.

Whole towns have literally been burned to the ground.

Thankfully the weather is cooling a little and there is a chance of the fires being controlled.

Please pray for the people affected by this tragedy.

So far, this is not as bad as the Ash Wednesday fires of February 16th, 1983 when 75 people died, but it is certainly a terrible day.

UPDATE: The ABC is reporting an official death count of 84, and warning that the final figure could be well over 100. This now surpasses the Ash Wednesday fires.

UPDATE 2: Monday morning death toll is 104 and an incredible 750 homes destroyed.
