In front of Jesus and behind him, people went along shouting “Hosanna! God bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Observation
Many people are shouting praise to Jesus.

In a few days, many people will be shouting “Crucify him!”

Is it mob hysteria? Mass demonic influence? Human fickleness?

I heard an interview recently with an Australian Army officer who had just returned from Afghanistan. He said that the biggest problem that they face there is fighting local villagers who are not really opposed to them or support the Taliban. It's just that the war is the most exciting thing ever to happen in their valley and everyone wants to say that they were in it.

So for many people the triumphant entry of King Jesus and the execution of the Messiah are the same thing- a bit of excitement.

Application
I wonder how often my walk with Jesus can be described as just a bit of entertainment. I think I am truly committed, but at times other, more exciting things shout for my attention.

I need to always make sure that my walk with God and my worship of Him are based on who He is and not on what I get from Him at any particular time.

Prayer
Lord, the heart- my heart- is deceitful above all things. Let me be found to be true and faithful. Amen.
