Reflection on 1 Peter 1:3-9

Scripture
You are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Observation
Peter's joy of salvation overflows in a torrent of words. Christ has given us new birth, living hope, inheritance that will never fade, perish or spoil.

We are shielded by God's power until the salvation comes at the end of the age.

Whether we pass through trials or not, we can rejoice because God uses good times and bad to strengthen our faith. The goal of our lives is the eternal salvation of our souls and that is what we need to keep focussing on.

Application
We must always keep our eyes on the goal. It's easy to be swamped by the demands of our daily living. Physical needs can block out spiritual goals.

We need to take time out daily to seek the Lord and recalibrate our lives.

When we look at all that God has done in Christ for us, joy rises so readily. The stress and pressures of life pale in significance. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus.

Prayer
Help me Lord Jesus to keep looking to you. Help me find the time each day to meditate on all you have done and to regather the joy of salvation. Amen.
