All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Observation
The great Day of Pentecost. For the first time the Holy Spirit is poured out on all believers.

The primary sign of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is the gift of tongues. The disciples are enabled to proclaim the gospel in languages previously unknown to them.

Another sign of the work of the Holy Spirit is the bold and effective preaching by Peter, culminating in the message of incredible hope: “Everyone who believes in the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Later in the chapter we are told that 3000 people were saved that day. Wow!

Application
We still need the fullness of the Holy Spirit today. I see many people struggling to live the Christian life in their own strength and ministers trying to minister from personal talents and disregarding the power of the Holy Spirit.

I need all the divine help I can get! I almost need a daily Pentecost.

Just s Peter was transformed by the Holy Spirit, so too I have been changed by God and continue to be.

I also find the gift of tongues- a supernatural prayer language- invaluable in my relationship with God, Sometimes I just don't know how to pray, but the prayer language of the Holy Spirit allows God to intercede through me. That is when prayer becomes immensely powerful.

Prayer
Baptise me Holy Spirit. Come and fill me anew with the power and the character of Christ. Renew my vision for serving you. Let me walk in your grace today and always. Amen.
