Reflection on Matthew 28:16-20

Scripture
“Surely I am with you always, even to the very end of the age.”

Observation
The elven go to the mountain in Galilee as Jesus had instructed them. Jesus appears and they worship him, although some remain doubtful about the resurrection.

Jesus gives the Great Commission- to go everywhere discipling the nations, baptising and teaching them to obey.

Application
Jesus' command is to go and make disciples. The disciples will be found everywhere, which makes it hard to understand why the church of Acts was so reluctant to accept the place of the Gentiles in the Kingdom. Maybe we always have trouble understanding the breadth of God's grace.

The command is to go and make disciples. The means are baptising and teaching. The goal is obedience disciples.

Evangelism is an important part of the process, but not the only part. We have to produce mature disciples and that takes time.

There no quick paths to maturity as faith has to be lived. There are tools such as cell groups which will help us along the path.

Prayer
Lord Jesus thank you for the promise that you will go with us as we seek to fulfil your commission. Ow will you lead me today? To whom shall I be a minister of the gospel? Please direct all of my paths. Amen.
