“Anyone who receives you receives me and anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me.”

Observation
To receive a follower of Jesus is to receive Jesus Himself, and because Jesus is one with the Father, they therefore receive the Father.

To receive a prophet as a prophet means we share the prophet's reward. That may or may not be a good thing as many true prophets are rewarded with persecution.

To show hospitality to any of Christ's followers brings the favour of God.

Application
Jesus wants us to see the big picture in our dealings with one another. Often we just see our interactions on personal or human level. But Jesus wants us to see that as His followers we are living examples of His body. To honour one another or to care for one another is as if we are doing it for Him.

Conversely to dishonour one another or to refuse to help another person brings dishonour to Jesus.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to see all of my christian brothers and sisters as truly belonging to you, especially when we disagree. Help me to see the big picture in all of my relationships. Amen.
