More From Hyderabad

Pastor Suresh's church was forced out of their previous meeting place and is meeting temporarily at a pre-school. Our church once did that too, but we didn't construct a stick hut in the back yard. Despite the difficult meeting place their fellowship is joyful. We ministered there at the morning service.

Thy made a banner to welcome Grant and me, but unfortunately I wasn't able to communicate Grant's name very effectively over the phone. Next time I'll use SMS to get it right!

Not every church needs an international venue to worship in.

Australian authorities would have a fit if they saw this child care centre!

In the evening we ministered at a branch church that meets in the slums on the opposite side of the hill to the elite suburb. Grant preached a good message to over 40 people crammed into a room about 10 feet square.

Today we returned to the church meeting place and I taught about relational christianity for a couple of hours. Today is a public holiday in India so people were available for the extra meeting.

The lady in the middle above is Bushpa a very capable translator. She actually spoke more that I did as she tried to explain concepts to a largely uneducated group.

This is Pastor Suresh's family

Tonight we go to a prayer meeting at yet another branch church in the city. I am expected to preach again so I had better get some thoughts together.

Tomorrow, Tuesday is our last day. We will have another meeting, which I have deputised Grant to speak at, then fly out in the evening- which will already be Wednesday in Australia. We arrive back in Sydney on Wednesday night and stay overnight before returning home early Thursday.

  1. Keith,I have been travelling with you through you blog posts. To experience Sri Lanka and India as you and Grant are doing is priceless. The reality and not the tourist fantasy with a Bollywood soundtrack. My thoughts went back to your description of airport security and remembering it was exactly the same 30 years ago! Well hope your trip home is uneventful :bye: :bye: Take care and be safe. ßernie

  2. Thank you for your kind wishes. We truly have been blessed by our time here and it has been really good to hear the pastors say we have given them teaching that will help them. Also it has been a reminder how easy we have it in Australia in terms of health and wealth. The suffering we have seen is just heart-breaking but it has also been a joy to see pastors and churches responding to great need with faithful preaching and practical support.
