Scripture
“I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.”
Observation
Moses is out in the wilderness tending the flocks of his father in law. He sees a bush that burns without being consumed.
Moses draws close to look but is warned by the Lord that he is standing on holy ground. The Lord has heard the cries of his people and is going to rescue them from slavery in Egypt. He will ring them to their own land. Therefore Moses is to go to Pharaoh to being them out.
Moses asks the Lord what name he should use to describe him. God replies, “Tell them I AM has sent you.”
Application
God has heard the cries of His people and is coming down to rescue them by sending a man.
God's purposes always unfold in the form of an ordinary human being stepping forward in obedience.
God is a sending God. He commissions, equips and sends people to fulfil His plans and purposes in the world.
Like Moses, none of the people God sends is perfect. The qualification for being used by God is availability not perfection.
We cannot use our inadequacy as an excuse to evade God's mission.
Prayer
Here I am Lord, send me. Let me be available for your purposes today and every day. Amen.
