Scripture
I have not yet reached the goal and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep running and struggling to take hold of the prize.

Observation
Paul was the Jew of all Jews, the Pharisee of Pharisees. He had every claim to religious righteousness.

Christ showed him that all of his achievements were worthless, Everything else other than knowing Christ is now just rubbish, All he wants is Christ.

Paul keeps on running to win the prize. He hasn't arrived but is heading for the finish line.

Application
All of our desires and ambitions are nothing compared to the glory of knowing Jesus.

Jesus is the goal, the prize to which we are heading.

When we just put Jesus at the centre of our lives everything else takes its rightful place. We no longer have to struggle with our own desires- everything is yielded to him.

Prayer
Lord Jesus you reign supreme over all the earth. Help me to surrender the deepest parts of my heart to you. Help me to trust that having you at the centre makes everything else work properly. Amen.
