Reflection on Isaiah 52:7-10

Scripture
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

Observation
Isaiah looks forward to a new era, an era in which it is not judgement and punishment that are on God's mind, but peace and favour.

The Lord will return to Zion and reign over all the earth. The Lord will redeem His people, comfort Jerusalem and the whole earth will recognise the glory of God.

Application
Christmas is not just about a baby in a stable. Christmas is not just about personal salvation.

The gospel message, the good news is about the reconciliation of Israel and the whole earth to God.

Jesus came proclaiming the coming of the kingdom of God, His gracious reign over those who choose to follow him.

Prayer
Thank you Lord for the kingdom of God, for bringing me into the redeemed people of God. Amen.
