Reflection on Hebrews 1:1-12

Scripture
The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honour at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven

Observation
God has always revealed himself to people. Now he has come and appeared to us in the form of the Son.

Jesus was much more than a mere human being. He represents the character and the glory of God. He cleansed us from our sin and now sits at the right hand of God.

Jesus is higher than any human and higher than any angel.

Application
At Christmas we can get so focussed on a baby in a manger that we lose sight of who that baby is.

The mystery of the incarnation is not that a baby has been born but that the baby is the divine Son of God.

This is the glorious God compressed into a tiny human being. This is he God who created planets and stars born into a place of poverty and squalor.

God is not afraid to touch the earth. God is not afraid to hang out with people who don't matter to the world.

God is not afraid to touch our lives.

Prayer
Most awesome, glorious God, I thank you that you have humbled yourself to become a human being. Help me to receive you n my life and to allow your goodness to change my heart. Amen.
