Reaping and Sowing

Just about every Australian would be aware of the interminable leadership squabbles in our Federal Government at the moment. In 2007 we elected a Labor Government led by Kevin Rudd. Two years into their three year term the powers that be in the Labor Party determined that Kevin Rudd was terminally unpopular and, for the first time in our history, removed a first-term Prime Minister from the leadership and replaced him with Julia Gillard. Rudd was given the consolation prize of Foreign Minister to keep him happy and quiet.

A few months later she went to an election and narrowly scraped in with a minority government requiring the support of independents to stay in office.

Since that time there has been constant speculation of a Rudd come back with almost daily a new new story about the latest machinations. The Labor Party's popularity has been stuck at about 35% with no real hope of re-election.

So a leader who rose to power by knifing her rival is beset by continual undermining.

Not only that, she went into the election campaign making numerous promises including "there will be no carbon tax under the government I lead" and a commitment to christians to keep marriage defined as between one man and one woman. The carbon tax promise was ditched within days of the election and the Labor Party voted to make homosexual "marriage" a part of their platform.

It is hardly surprising that our Prime Minister is perceived to be a liar and untrustworthy.

The Bible speaks of reaping what we sow. Every farmer knows that if you plant wheat you get wheat, if you plant cotton you get cotton. The same process happens in the personal level also. If you live by deception it will ensnare you, but if you sow honesty, integrity will surround you.

The tricky part about this is that we see the law at work in others but it is much harder to see it at work in our own lives.

So, what are you sowing in your own life? What will its harvest be?
