If you listen to the media you would think that banks are making obscenely huge profits on the backs of the working people. Their profits are quite big but not compared to other companies:

Amazingly the banks come in even behind Telstra.

If you think that the Federal Government is getting way too big, take a look at this graph of the number of pages of Federal legislation passed each year. It strikes me as being way out of balance.
