Today, after mowing the grass, I noticed there is a particularly active paper wasp nest on our verandah. These wasps are particularly aggressive and pack a nasty punch. I'm told that the Farm Centre sells a spray that packs a strong punch, so guess where I'm going on Friday. In the past I have used a burning piece of paper to set fire to the nest, but there seem to be too many wasps to risk that.
We ducked over to the park at lunch time for a visit to a birthday party for Johanna who turned 1. I didn't take a photo of Joey but did catch these cuties:

Best to get rid of the wasps. A wasp sting is no fun.:(

I agree. We have another variety which build nests out of mud. They look more fearsome but are mostly harmless. Paper wasps though will sometimes go for you just for looking at them.

You have to be careful with it but a little gasoline (petrol) splashed or sprayed on them will drop them like a rock

I went to the Farm Centre and asked about this wonderful wasp killer. They had no idea what it would be, but the salesman suggested what Paul said- splash some petrol on the nest. Sure enough the wasps all dropped immediately.
