A couple of months ago it was being claimed by scientists at the CERN particel accelerator that some neutinos had been measured as travelling faster than the speed of light, calling into doubt Einstein's Theories of Relativity.
Subsequent experiments have found that this was an error of measurement and Einstein's Theories remain correct.
This is how science works- an experiement throwas up new evidence that tests a theory and people then check the experiment and the theory to see which needs to be changed. The experimenters don't get called names such as "denier" for raising questions- unlike the "settled scicence" of climate research where no one is allowed to question the consensus.

Stephen Hawking said something like that too, "Each time new experiments are observed to agree with the predictions the theory survives, and our confidence in it is increased; but if ever a new observation is found to disagree, we have to abandon or modify the theory."

That's true Lois. Even Einstein's theories are only temporary in the sense that they only describe what we know so far. Newton's equations of motion were replaced by Einstein's only because at very high speeds they describe our observations better. If the neutrinos, or any other particle, were actually measured travelling faster than the speed of light, another theory with matching equations would have to be developed to describe, not just the new situation, but all the existing observations up to that point.Or they could just blame it on carbon dioxide or climate change. 🙂
