Dear children, let's not merely say that we love one another; let us show the truth by our actions.

Observation
We know what real love is because of the actions of Jesus in giving up his life for us. We also should give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. Compassion for the poor must show in actions.

Acts of live combined with boldness in prayer bring God's favour because we are doing the things that please Him. God's spirit then remains in us.

Application
For christians, faith and love go together. Our faith in God and our love for God mean that we will obey Christ's command to love our neighbours.

The Spirit of God transforms us so powerfully that the love of God flows from us to other people.

The connection of obedience to prayer is often missed by many people. Faith is not faith until it is activated in obedience to God's will. We cannot expect God to respond to bold prayers if we are not walking in fellowship with God.

Prayer
Lord help me to walk in humble fellowship with you today and every day. Amen.
