Reflection on John 10:11-18

Scripture
“I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep and they know me.”

Observation
Jesus is he good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep. A hired hand will run away because he doesn't own the sheep and so the flock is at the mercy of wolves.

Jesus is the good shepherd who knows his sheep by name. He will even bring in sheep from other pastures so there is one flock.

Jesus lays down his life for the sake of the sheep. No one can take it from him because he lays it down in obedience to the will of the Father.

Application
Jesus is the Good Shepherd who puts the safety of the flock ahead of his own safety. Jesus laid down His life so that everyone who calls on His name may be saved.

Jesus' salvation extends beyond the Jewish nation to all people in the world. Everyone whose heart is pure before God may be saved through faith in Christ.

Jesus died for me willingly. He was the Lamb of God who atoned for the sins of the entire world.

Prayer
Thank you Jesus for being my saviour, for willingly paying the price of my salvation. Amen.
