I tell you now is the time of God's favour, now is the day of salvation.

Observation
Paul is a genuine servant of the Lord. He puts no stumbling block in the way of anyone. On the contrary, he endures every conceivable hardship in order to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Paul has been through beatings, imprisonment, good reports and bad, regarded as an impostor, poverty, hard work. Through it all he has known the power of the presence of the Holy Spirit.

For this reason Paul can genuinely say his heart is open to the Corinthian church. He appeals to them, to open their hearts to him.

Application
Following Jesus is no guarantee of “the good life.” In fact ministering the gospel can be hazardous.

God allows us to go through various trials and successes in order to deepen our trust in Him and to open our hearts to others.

Prayer
Lord let me know your presence today. Let me stand firm in you regardless of how people around me respond. May my heart be filled with love for you and for my neighbours. Amen.
