Scripture
Out of the depth I cry to you O Lord
Observation
There are four aspects to the life of the Spirit in this psalm
* crying out to the Lord in the depths. This is prayer for ourselves and for others, knowing that God is attentive to our cries.
* repentance and trusting in God's forgiveness
* waiting expectantly on the Lord. We watch to see what H will do, and what He will have us do.
* hope in the Lord. We must put our trust in Him, not in our status, our work or our bank balance.
Application
Every part of our life should be centred in the Lord. Others may look to the world for their life-focus but those who follow Jesus must trust in Him.
The way of Jesus means to allow Him to direct our path, It means being alert to His voice and clinging to Him in times of crisis, disappointment or hurt.
Prayer
Lord, you alone are my strength. In you alone will I put my trust. Amen.
