Therefore I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame.

Observation
This is one of four Servant Songs in Isaiah that speak of the suffering of the Lord's faithful servant. They are very powerful prophecies of the ministry of Jesus.

The servant knows God's will and His wisdom. Even though he knows that it is a path of suffering and humiliation he sets his face like flint to do God's will.

Even though he is oppressed by men he knows that God is on his side and will vindicate him.

Application
God calls each of us to do things at times that are painful, humbling or difficult. Some people are imprisoned or killed for their faith in Jesus.

We must, like Jesus, be determined to obey God at these times.

It is God who in the end vindicates and rewards his faithful servants.

Lord please help me to obey you in all things today. Amen.
