Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

Observation
True wisdom is shown in our actions- deeds born in humility. Where there is envy and selfish ambition this “wisdom” comes from the devil.

God's wisdom shows in the good fruit it produces- purity, peace, mercy.

The battles that rage in our hearts lead to fights and quarrels. If we remain self-centred we will not have our prayers answered because we are seeking our own will not God's.

Application
James is addressing what may be called carnal christians or flesh-motivated christians. They follow Jesus in name but have not really allowed His grace to penetrate into their lives.

There are many people like that. Perhaps they seek the identity of Christianity without the personal faith, or they take the idea of salvation without seeing the need to die to ourselves. Perhaps there are deep hurts that keep them protective of themselves.

In any event, the only way to grow in Christ is to let Him take control of every part of our lives, to die to ourselves and our old way of living.

This is the true wisdom that comes from heaven.

Prayer
Father, please help me to surrender to you, to allow your wisdom to penetrate every part of my thinking, believing and acting. Amen.
