Scripture
They hanged Haman on the gallows prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's fury subsided.
Observation
The book of Esther is a suspenseful story of God's protection of His people in a hostile environment. The Jews manage to survive, and prosper, despite the attempts of some highly placed people to commit genocide.
Esther is a Jewish woman who has been selected as a queen to the Persian king. She hears of a plot by Haman to have her people exterminated and uses all of her wit and beauty to overcome this evil plan.
In an unexpected irony, Haman is hanged on the gallows prepared for Mordecai, a leader in the Jewish exile community.
Application
The story of Esther is a strong demonstration that God is in control of our lives. Even when our situation seems bleak, God is in control and He will bring us through.
True faith in God is not a matter of sitting passively and hoping for the best. Esther had to be courageous and take action to save her people. The life of faith is a life of courageously trusting God to bring us through to victory.
Prayer
Thank you Lord for the certainty that you are always with me. Amen.
