Scripture
What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position “ little lower than the angels”; and, because he suffered death for us, is now “crowned with glory and honour.” Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.
Observation
It is human beings rather than angels who are destined for supremacy under God's reign. As Psalm 8 points out we are made a little lower than the angels but will be given authority over all things.
At the moment it is only Jesus who has been lifted up to this place- a fore-runner. God's desire is to raise many children to glory.
Application
There is a preoccupation in some christian circles, a fascination with angels. Scripture makes it clear, though, that it is people who are the objects of God's plans. It is humans not angels who will have authority over all things.
Because we share in God's plan for redemption, we are not just followers of a religion but brothers and sisters of Christ, heirs of the Father.
The Father is raising us into His glory. We don't feel that in the bruising battles of every day life, but it is true. Even the battle of today is a preparation for the glory of eternity.
Prayer
Help me to keep my eyes on you, Father even when I feel life is trampling me down. Help me to remember I am a son or daughter of glory. Amen.
