Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

Observation
The priesthood of the new covenant is better than the old because Jesus lives for ever, We have one priest rather than a succession of priests.

Jesus is therefore able to save everyone who comes to the Father through him. He is holy and blameless, untouched by sin. Unlike other priests he does not have to offer a sacrifice for his own sins. He is not limited by human weakness but is the perfect priest for ever,

Application
Some christians are afraid of committing the “unforgivable sin” and thus losing their salvation. But as this chapter reminds us, we have a perfect priest unlimited by sin who is able to forgive every sin. He is the perfect priest and the perfect sacrifice, unlimited by any human weakness.

We don't have to worry about Jesus being unable to save us. We don't have to fear that at the last day we won't be good enough,

What a marvellous saviour we have! He is able to guarantee our salvation, regardless of our past, present or future sin.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for this wonderful salvation that you have given me. Help me to always trust in your great grace. Amen.
