Scripture
All of you together are Christ's body and each of you is a part of it.

Observation
There are many parts to a human body, and so it is with Christ's body, the church. Whatever our social or ethnic origin, in Christ we are united in the one body.

Our physical bodies have many parts with many functions but still remain one body. We treat different parts of our bodies differently but it's al one body.

Together we are Christ's body. He has put this body together in the way he wants it.

All the spiritual gifts are important to the body. Nobody has all the gifts. Rather than coveting the gifts of others we should seek whatever is helpful to the body.

Application
The unity of the church is important to God. Paul spends a lot of time talking about this. In fact, whenever he talks about spiritual gifts, it is always in the context of the unity of the church.

We all need to submit our own gifts and talents to the overall needs of the body. My ministry is not nearly as important as the mission of the church.

Prayer
Holy Spirit come and impart to me the gifts and abilities I need in order to be a blessing to your church. Amen.
