Scripture
Afterward you may go and celebrate because of all the good things the Lord your God has given you and your household.
Observation
When the Israelites enter the Promised Land they are to put some of their first crop into a basket and take it to the place of worship.
They are to confess that they were slaves in Egypt, but have now been brought into this place by the Lord.
Only after this may they go and celebrate all of the good things given them by the Lord.
Application
There is a principle or an order that describes how our approach to life should be.
1. Faith comes first. It's easy to give a portion to God after the crop is in and the bills are paid. It takes faith to bring the first part of the crop. What if there is no more left to eat? To bring the first portion to the Lord means we trust Him to supply the rest.
2. Worship comes next. The Lord must be always at the forefront of our lives, our hearts, our thinking. Too many people allow other things to distract them from corporate worship and private praise.
3. Celebration. For christians, every celebration is a celebration of God's grace.
Prayer
Lord, teach me how to place you at the centre of everything. Help me to live by faith, worship and celebration with you in the focal point of it all. Amen.
