Reflection on Romans 5:1-5

Scripture
Therefore, since we have been justified by fatih we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Observation
We have been justified through faith- not by our own works- and Jesus Christ brings us peace with God the Father. Because of this we rejoice in the hope of God's glory.

But hope comes as the result of a long process that involves suffering. Suffering produces perseverance which develops character which produces in turn hope.. This hope is the certainty of God's love given to us through the Holy Spirit.

Application
Justified by faith- this is the heart of the gospel message. We don't have to be good to come to Christ, just repentant.

For faith to finish its work we have to hang in there over the long term- in fact for a life time. God isn't just saving us from hell but also preparing us for heaven. This is the hope that Paul talks about.

Getting hell out of us is a long and difficult process, but God won't give up on us if we hold on to Him.

Prayer
Lord I yield my whole life to you right now. Cleanse me and let my soul be freed from every sin. Amen.
