Escaping Radical Islam to Live Life with Christ

From persecution.orgEscaping Radical Islam to Live Life with Christ

11/16/2022 Turkey (International Christian Concern) – Leyla is a loving mother and wife in her forties who grew up in a family that still practices radical Islam. After getting married, her husband became a catalyst for her acceptance of Christ and becoming a believer. Christ is a part of her daily life, but initially, she needed to keep this hidden from her family. They eventually found out, which was the beginning of some tough times in her life.

Leyla’s father learned about her husband’s faith during a visit from out of the city and confronted his daughter. Without giving her a choice, he took her back home with him and told her she was not allowed to see her husband and would divorce him. She compares this to being a hostage with her children, “I was so scared that I couldn’t say anything. I was just praying to the Lord. To help us overcome these problems. I spent three weeks like a nightmare at my father’s house.”

Leyla’s husband, Murat, had to stay away from his wife and children during this time. Leyla and her husband have a loving family, but while separated, they felt their souls were wounded living with the fear, pressure, and uncertainty of the situation. Murat made the decision to speak to his father-in-law, but this frightened Leyla because of the radical Islamic beliefs that she knew could drive her father to harm or even kill her husband. This is all because he chose to leave their religion and become a Christian, which means that he “lost” the right to be her husband and father to her children; in the eyes of her family, he was contaminated. Despite all these risks, he went home where no one spoke to him or ate at the same table with him as it was haram, according to Islam.

Murat wanted his wife and children home and was able to meet with his father-in-law and tell him how he came to know Christ and how his life was changed. He declared he would not give up on Christ, but he would also not give up on his family.

Leyla expresses what happened between her father and her husband as follows; “Thank God the Lord heard my pleas. My father agreed to this on one condition. My husband would never take my children and me to church. My father told my husband that if he heard such a thing, he would sacrifice him with one bullet. Even that was a great miracle for us. Because I knew my father very well. I knew I would never come home again. My husband also accepted my father’s request, seeing how strict my family was and realizing they would no longer give us peace in this country. My husband’s aim was primarily to take me and my children with him. Because if we had stayed with my family, we would never have been able to get together. My children would never see their father again. And they would brand my children as ‘children of the infidel’. If I had stayed with my family, they would have married me to someone else after I divorced my husband. This is unfortunately a common occurrence in our culture. This was going to be a very difficult and heavy situation for me.”

When they were preparing to return home, Leyla’s father told his grandchildren, “If this man, who will be your father, takes you to the church among the infidels again, you will inform me immediately. I’ll come and get you, and you’ll never see your father again.” He instructed and warned the children.

One of their children, afraid of what her grandfather said, cried along the way; “Please let’s not go to church, mom.” she begs her mother.

Leyla had returned to her home, but now that the family had learned about the situation, the pressure to stay in the Islamic faith began to increase. Leyla said, “My family is constantly video-calling me to check where I am. And when they don’t call, my sister sends my nephews to our house. Since we cannot go to church on Sunday, we want to attend our meeting online, but we cannot do that because my family is constantly following us.”

Other family members who learn about the situation continue to pressure this family differently. Leyla’s aunt tells her, “You will send your children to Qur’an courses; you will teach them to read the Qur’an and pray until the semester break!” Her aunt still gets angry with her, and many threats are spoken to them her family is under control.

Leyla and Murat considered moving to another city to be safe but moving would not protect them from the danger they would face. This is because wherever they go, Leyla’s family has enough leverage to find them.

Leyla believes it is too risky for them to live in Turkey now because of her family’s extreme Islamic beliefs. Leyla says, “My family has a point of view that sees anyone who doesn’t think like them as ‘infidels.’ If it is learned by our big family that we are Christian, they can easily reach us even if we change the city we live in. And in such a case, our safety is in serious danger.”

Layla does not want her children to grow up without a father, but if their life continues like this, the whole family will learn that they are Christians in time. For this reason, Leyla and her husband decided they would move out of the country, even though this would be very difficult. They will move to a place where the language and culture are different, and her husband will quit his job and risk their safety so that they can have the right to raise their children in a healthy way with the love of Christ. This move will be painful and disrupt their way of life, but it will be worth it, according to Leyla.

Leyla’s father threatens to kill his son-in-law without caring about his daughter’s future or feelings. He believes he is justified simply because his faith allows him to do so because of his Christianity. He has the will, power, and motive to do so, and until they leave, they will not be safe.

The World Hates You

If you love the Lord, then the world will hate you.

The Bible uses the word “world” in three different was, as we do in English:

  • the physical planet on which we live
  • humanity in general “God so loved the world…”
  • the system of culture, governance and business that operates independently of God, and often in opposition to Him.

It is that world as system which hates all Christians.

Andrew Thorburn was on Monday night announced as CEO of the Essendon AFL Club. By Tuesday he was fired.

His huge crime was that he is also Chairman of the Board of City On a Hill Church, a church which describes itself as being in the Anglican tradition.

Apparently back in 2013 somebody there preached a sermon that was against abortion and another person preached a sermon that said homosexuality is a sin. He was not the preacher of either message, but merely associating with such people is an unforgivable sin.

Dictator Dan Andrews, the Premier of Victoria, condemned him as “hateful” and a “bigot”, currently the worst judgement that can be bestowed on a person by the State of Woke.

So he resigned before he even started,

For the axe of Cancel Culture to have fallen so swiftly, it is clear that there was a “dirt file” already in existence. There are people who are so dedicated to destroying christians that they have already done the research on those whom they hate.

So the AFL, and organised sport more generally, justify their actions by wanting to make the sport inclusive and diverse. Their inclusion and diversity will come by excluding Christians.

The world really does hate you.

Any christian who works in an organisation big enough to have an HR Department now needs to have a Plan B.

Churches and other christian organisations, especially schools, also need to consider what might happen if the Government takes exception to their beliefs, which they will.

We live in a culture that has rejected God’s ways, and rather than seeing the church as a comfort and an ally, it sees the church as the enemy.

Religious bullying in Australian schools uncovered

Religious bullying in Australian schools uncovered

And how SRE can help prevent it

Students are facing “rampant” bullying in Australian schools because of their religious beliefs, a four-year study into government schools has found.

Authors of the report released yesterday – Sydney university academic Professor Emerita Suzanne Rutland and Professor Zehavit Gross from Bar Ilan University in Israel – found Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu students had all experienced being teased or being made fun of because of their faith.

Cases of vilification were higher in Sydney and Melbourne the researchers discovered, after conducting hundreds of interviews with students, teachers and families in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania.

The report – titled ‘Exploring the Value of Special Religious Education in Australia’ – also showed that school principals and other leaders were often unaware of or reluctant to deal with religious bullying, and students and families often played down the abuse.

“This is a real phenomenon. Now the question we have to face is, are we going to ignore and deny it, or are we going to deal with it openly and professionally?” – Professor Zehavit Gross

“I was shocked,” Gross told Eternity about the extent of religious bullying they found in Australian government schools.

“This is a real phenomenon. Now the question we have to face is, are we going to ignore and deny it, or are we going to deal with it openly and professionally? I think that if we as adults fail to protect our children, we are not fulfilling our duty of care.”

Gross said she was also “shocked and surprised” about the “denial of this phenomenon.”

“We went to the principals. We went to parents. We went to SRE [Special Religious Education] teachers. And they all denied this phenomenon.

Woman Who Fled Communist China Delivers Grim Warning

Woman Who Fled Communist China Delivers Grim Warning to Americans ‘Abandoning Freedom and Arriving Into Socialism’

Photo: YouTube/Fox News

August 29, 2022

A woman who survived and fled China’s Communist Revolution is warning Americans against what she sees as an abandonment of freedom and a dangerous embrace of socialism.

“I just want to say it’s so ironic — 36 years ago, I run away from socialism when I left China to come to this great country for freedom,” Xi Van Fleet said on “Fox & Friends Weekend.” “Today, so many Americans [are] abandoning freedom and arriving into socialism.”

Fleet said these people do not understand socialism and have no concept of what it is like to live under its precepts.

In such, a closely monitored and controlled society, she said there are “no choices” and “no freedom,” appealing to her own experience to corroborate her contentions.

“I lived under Mao’s socialism. When the government controls everything and makes all the decisions big and small and decide how much grain, meat [and] cooking oil I could have,” she said. “What I should learn in school, where I should live, and what job I should have and how I should think.”

Van Fleet said there is an intentional intent to weaken and dilute the word “socialism,” explaining how socialism is the first stop on the perilous pathway to communism.

“China is a socialist country. Cuba is a socialist country, and so is North Korea. They are a socialist country run by communist parties,” she said. “And what’s the difference? What’s the difference between socialism and communism? Not much.”

Van Fleet added, “Socialism is the initial stage of communism, according to Karl Marx.”

This isn’t the first time Van Fleet has spoken out about her experience, warning last year that efforts to silence parents speaking out about contentious issues in schools are similar to crackdowns she saw at the hands of Chinese Communist Party officials.

Van Fleet specifically spoke at the time about disparaging labels given to parent protestors by the National School Boards Association.

“When I was in China, I spent my entire school years in the Chinese Cultural Revolution, so I’m very, very familiar with the communist tactics of how to divide people, how they canceled the Chinese traditional culture and destroyed our heritage,” told Fox News last year. “All this is happening here in America.”

Van Fleet continued, “They call them racists for a long time, but that did not work. So, they have to upgrade to ‘domestic terrorists.’”

The situation in China today remains contentious and dangerous for many.

Van Fleet’s warnings — considering the history — are undoubtedly noteworthy for Americans navigating the difficult moments of the current political structure.

‘They Kill Believers on the Spot’: Frightened Afghan Christian Woman Shares Horrors From Inside Taliban Nightmare

Photo: Open Doors USA/YouTube

An Aghan woman speaking under a pseudonym for fear of retribution said the Taliban are going “door-to-door” in Afghanistan, snatching up young girls, and killing Christians “on the spot.”

A woman named Gulshan shared her harrowing experience in an interview with persecution watchdog Open Doors USA, revealing the dire state of affairs and the ongoing hunger plight that has raged since the Taliban took back power last August.

Listen to the latest episode of the Faithwire podcast 👇

“The Taliban are going door-to-door snatching young girls and destroying families,” she said in an emotional video. “They are conducting a door-to-door search to find us, and if they find us, they kill believers on the spot.”

Gulshan said Christians in Afghanistan “live in fear” that they will either be killed by the Taliban or “die of hunger.” To underscore the severity of the situation, she shared how she and her family have been forced to live on one bowl of lentils over a three-day period.

“Jesus has called us to bear much suffering,” she said. “But when I see my son and daughter, my heart sinks, and I lose courage. Dear Lord, do not let them lose hope in a better tomorrow.”

Gulshan said she and her fellow Christians cannot worship together and must meet in the “dead of night” so that neither the preacher nor Christ-followers can be identified.

The grieving woman spoke about how her faith — and the beliefs of Christian Americans — are the same.

“I know that my Jesus and yours is one,” Gulshan said, speaking to American viewers.

The tragic interview comes as Afghanistan is now rated the worst nation in the world for Christian persecution, according to Open Doors USA’s 2022 World Watch List.

The shocking development is undoubtedly the “biggest seismic shift” in decades, as North Korea, the reclusive and oppressive East Asian country, was bumped from the top spot it had occupied for 20 years.

“This year’s 2022 World Watch List, we think, is the biggest seismic shift in over 20 years because Afghanistan is now the No. 1 country on the World Watch List, supplanting North Korea,” Open Doors USA CEO David Curry recently told Faithwire.

It also comes as women’s rights are reportedly under attack in Afghanistan. And The Associated Press reported In December that Afghanistan, which has lost the support of international funding, is slipping “deeper into desperate times.” Food lines, cold, and a lack of resources abound, as millions live in temporary camps, and nearly 97% could soon be living below the poverty line.

Continue to pray for the Afghan people as poverty and chaos rage inside the nation’s borders. To find out more about how you can help, visit Open Doors USA.

‘Biggest Seismic Shift’ in Christian Persecution: Watchdog Reveals Major Shakeup Involving Afghanistan, North Korea

Afghanistan is now the worst nation in the world for Christian persecution, according to Open Doors USA, an organization that tracks global religious maltreatment.

1 country on the World Watch List, supplanting North Korea,” Open Doors USA CEO David Curry told Faithwire.

The Dire Situation in Afghanistan

Afghanistan has long been embroiled in chaos, but the situation devolved further when the U.S. undertook a chaotic withdrawal last August — a retreat that carried with it serious consequences.

“Many people are aware of what’s happened since August in Afghanistan,” Curry said, citing the chaos and uncertainty. “It has emboldened Islamic extremists in other parts of the world. We believe it’s going to have a ripple effect.”

Christians in Afghanistan face intensifying persecution at the hands of the resurgent Taliban, with militants purportedly arresting and possibly seeking to kill believers. Christians and Christian women, in particular, are especially vulnerable and are seen as ideological enemies.

“They are going to be targeted,” Curry said.

North Korea’s Continued Christian Persecution

Though dethroned as the top stronghold of persecution, North Korea still occupies the second spot, and there’s no sign the chaos and targeted hatred perpetuated by leader Kim Jong-un and his restrictive government will dissipate.

“For 20 years, North Korea was number one. They have a post-communist … system that has been generational,” Curry said. “They have lifted now Kim Jung Un as the dictator. People are forced to worship him.”

He continued, “It’s clear that they don’t want any other faith except the worship of their leader and the communist system…they control all the means of life.”

Government control persists over necessities like food and medical care. This systematic control has led to mass starvation for the general populace. Christians are many times the last people to get food and are sometimes put in labor camps or relegated to remote areas because of their faith in Jesus.

Curry said the “2022 World Watch List” shows, from a large scale, the “strength of extremism around the world.”

“When you look at the top 10 countries, places like Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, you have even India [which is] number 10,” he said. “These are there on the ‘World Watch List’ because these countries have extremist groups, which are either running the government or are influencing the government and culture in these countries in such a way that it is not safe to practice your faith.”

BREAKING: Religious Leaders File Huge Lawsuit Against State Governments to Restore Freedoms · Caldron Pool

This is interesting. It looks like some churches are taking a stand for in-person worship to be classed as “essential.”

BREAKING: Religious Leaders File Huge Lawsuit Against State Governments to Restore Freedoms · Caldron Pool

Internationally renowned COVID-19 expert, Jayanta Bhattacharya, Professor of Medicine at Stanford University in California has provided an independent expert report in support of the action brought forward by the plaintiffs.

Three evangelical pastors, along with several Jewish congregations, have filed a joint lawsuit with the Australian Federal Government, seeking an injunction against the New South Wales and Victorian Government’s current COVID-19 lockdown measures.

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in the Federal Court, argues the state governments have selectively discriminated against religious groups in denying citizens the ability to congregate in Houses of Worship by arbitrarily deeming them “non-essential,” while allowing the public to gather elsewhere, such as in supermarkets and liquor stores.

The lawsuit will argue that Houses of Worship provide significant spiritual, psychological, and emotional support for communities, especially those who are suffering financially and psychologically from the impacts of the state government’s lockdown policies.

Furthermore, it will be argued that the governments’ indiscriminate selection of “essential” and “non-essential” venues under the Public Health Order is not supported by robust scientific or medical evidence.

According to the complaint, neither the NSW nor Victorian Governments have the constitutional or common law power to deny citizens their religious freedom which includes their ability to fulfill particular religious obligations and practices in their designated House of Worship.

Internationally renowned COVID-19 expert, Jayanta Bhattacharya, Professor of Medicine at Stanford University in California has also provided an independent expert report in support of the action brought forward by the plaintiffs.

Lawyer Tony Nikolic said his clients were forced to appeal to the courts after the matter had been repeatedly ignored by the NSW state government, in particular.

“My clients have attempted to engage with the NSW and Victorian Premiers and their Ministers as well as various NSW, Victorian, and Federal Parliamentarians to have their grievances addressed in a diplomatic and respectful manner.

“Unfortunately, in the context of NSW, the NSW Government has been unwilling to engage with my clients in any meaningful dialogue. As a result, our only last venue for relief is the courts.”

Pastor Robert Ayoub, one of the plaintiffs in the case, said they have exhausted other options to no avail.

“Now we have. a legal option, where we take the matter to the courts and have it heard by a court,” Pastor Ayoub said in a recent interview. “We believe this is a respectful way to do things, and importantly, a legal way to do things.

“We’re not here to be vindictive, or dishonouring towards the government, we’re just seeking to be able to practice our religion freely, and we’re appealing to our government to allow. us to love our God and also love our neighbour, to love our community.”

The plaintiffs in the case have also backed The Moses Statement, an open letter to Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the State Premiers, urging a reopening of churches across the nation.

The Moses Statement can be read and signed here.

The case will be heard in court later today.

Bill Muehlenberg: When The State Displaces God

WHEN THE STATE DISPLACES GOD

Posted on

The state is increasingly usurping the role of the church:

The recent images of a Canadian pastor being dragged away by the police for daring to hold church services should forever remain burned into our memories. The pastor was born in Poland and lived under Soviet rule as a child, so he knows all about life under totalitarian regimes. As one article reports:

Canadian Pastor Artur Pawlowski, who kicked police out of his church after they tried to shut down a worship service during Holy Week, and his brother, Dawid Pawlowski, have been arrested for holding an “illegal” in-person gathering as per COVID-19 limits set by a new court order. Referring to the Pawlowskis of Street Church in Calgary, Alberta, Calgary Police Service said in a statement that its officers “lawfully enforced” the court order by arresting the two men after church.

A video posted on YouTube shows that Calgary Police Service sent at least five police vehicles to arrest the two from on the street. The brothers knelt on the road and refused to walk on their own during the arrest. A voice can be heard telling the officers, “Shame on you guys, this is not communist China. Don’t you have family and kids? Whatever happened to ‘Canada, God keep our land glorious and free?’” www.christianpost.com/news/canadian-pastor-arrested-for-holding-church-service.html

I have written before about this brave pastor. In an earlier piece I offered this quote of his: “I grew up in Poland under the boot of the Soviets, behind the Iron Curtain. What I see right now, I see everything escalating and moving to the new level. They’re acting just like the Communists were acting when I was growing up when the pastors and the priests were arrested, and some were murdered. Many were tortured. That’s why I say what I say, because I see a repetition of history.” billmuehlenberg.com/2021/04/08/signs-of-hope-scenes-from-the-resistance/

Those who have grown up in communist countries have every right to be alarmed at what they see happening all over the West. That is a major theme in the new book by Rod Dreher, Live Not By Lies. See my write-up about it here: billmuehlenberg.com/2020/12/30/a-review-of-live-not-by-lies-by-rod-dreher/

One of the major takeaways from the covid scare over the past year is this two-pronged reality: In the West we have had far too much statist overreach and far too much Christian capitulation. We see this occurring everywhere, and it does not look too good.

Plenty of churches are still in lockdown, or greatly reduced in what they can offer, while pubs and brothels and sporting events and hardware stores and so on are fully up and running. And most Christian leaders are not saying a thing about this.

One of the real sins of any age is when men and/or the state usurp the prerogatives of God, and seek to act as God. A key way of doing this is to determine what worship is, and where and when it can take place. The state may seek to prohibit all religious worship, or certain aspects of it.

During the past year under the guise of ‘keeping us safe’ the state has taken almost total control of most churches. Whenever that happens the people of God should be rising up and asserting the importance of fundamental human rights, including religious liberty rights.

The Slow Strangulation of Freedom in Europe

A respected Finnish MP faces prison for tweeting Bible verses:

From mychristiandaily.com

Finnish Christian MP Could Face Prison Sentence For Tweeting Bible Verse

David Rogers | Staff

The Finnish Prosecutor General has brought three criminal charges against Finnish Member of Parliament, Päivi Räsänen.

Imprisonment for posting a Bible tweet is now a very real possibility in Finland. The Finnish Prosecutor General has brought three criminal charges against Finnish Member of Parliament, Päivi Räsänen.

According to ADF International, the former Minister of the Interior now faces two years of imprisonment for each alleged crime. The medical doctor, mother of five, and grandmother of six is accused of having engaged in “hate speech” for publicly voicing her opinion on marriage and human sexuality in a 2004 pamphlet, for comments made on a 2018 TV show and, most recently, a tweet directed at her church leadership.

“I cannot accept that voicing my religious beliefs could mean imprisonment. I do not consider myself guilty of threatening, slandering or insulting anyone. My statements were all based on the Bible’s teachings on marriage and sexuality,” said Päivi Räsänen. “I will defend my right to confess my faith, so that no one else would be deprived of their right to freedom of religion and speech. I hold on to the view that my expressions are legal and they should not be censored. I will not back down from my views. I will not be intimidated into hiding my faith. The more Christians keep silent on controversial themes, the narrower the space for freedom of speech gets.“

Criminally charged for voicing deeply held beliefs

Police investigations against Räsänen started in June 2019. As an active member of the Finnish Lutheran church, she addressed the leadership of her church and questioned its official sponsorship of the LGBT event ‘Pride 2019’, accompanied by an image of a bible text. Räsänen has already attended several lengthy police interviews about her views and had to wait over a year for the General Prosecutor to decide whether to continue with the prosecution. That decision has now been made and ADF International will continue supporting Räsänen’s defense and the right for everyone to freely share their beliefs.

“Freedom of speech is one of the cornerstones of democracy. The Finnish Prosecutor General’s decision to bring these charges against Dr. Räsänen creates a culture of fear and censorship. It is sobering that such cases are becoming all too common throughout Europe. If committed civil servants like Päivi Räsänen are criminally charged for voicing their deeply held beliefs, it creates a chilling effect for everyone’s right to speak freely,” said Paul Coleman, Executive Director of ADF International and author of Censored: How European Hate Speech Laws are Threatening Freedom of Speech.

Räsänen has served as a Finnish Member of Parliament since 1995, was chair of the Christian Democrats from 2004-2015, and from 2011-2015 she was the Minister of the Interior, during which she held responsibility for church affairs in Finland.

Chinese President ‘Terrified’ by Surge of Christianity, Fears Church Will Be 300 Million-Strong Within a Decade

From Caldronpool

The President of China is reportedly ‘terrified’ by the surge of Christianity across the nation and fears a 300 million-strong uprising within a decade.

Dr Ron Boyd-MacMillan, director of Strategic Research at Christian charity, Open Doors, told Express that Xi Jinping is becoming increasingly concerned about the growth of the Christian Church in China, which could reach 300 million people by 2030.

“We think the evidence as to why the Chinese Church is so targeted, is that the leaders are scared of the size of the Church, and the growth of the Church,” Dr Boyd-MacMillan said.Advertisement

“And if it grows, at the rate that it has done, since 1980 and that’s about between seven and 8 percent a year, then you’re looking at a group of people that will be 300 million strong, nearly by 2030.

“And, you know, the Chinese leadership, they really do long term planning, I mean, their economic plan goes to 2049, so this bothers them. Because I think if the Church continues to grow like that, then they’ll have to share power,” Dr Boyd-MacMillan added.

Last year, an international Christian watchdog organization for persecuted Christians worldwide, warned that the persecution of Christians in China is set to rise in 2021.

In its annual Persecution Trends survey, Release International warned that persecution is thriving in Communist China, which has gone unchallenged by the international community due to increased dependence on trade.

According to the organization’s partners: “The government of President Xi Jinping is increasing its ‘clean up’ of anything that does not advance the communist agenda. They appear to believe that they can achieve this by systematic opposition.”Advertisement

Release International’s website notes: “Tough new laws controlling religion have been imposed. Non-registered churches have been raided and closed in 2020, and increasing numbers of registered churches have been made to install CCTV cameras and put up posters proclaiming communist ideals and beliefs.”

The organization went on to accuse China of exploiting the pandemic in an effort to tighten restrictions on underground church gatherings.

Bob Fu of ChinaAid said: “The Chinese Government is trying every way to take advantage of the virus by increasing the crackdown against Christian churches. It has accelerated particular campaigns, such as the forced removal of crosses.”Advertisement

It’s estimated that there is currently between 60 to 100 million Christians in China.
