Reflection on Matthew 6:24-34

Scripture
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteous lives, and he will give you everything you need.”

Observation
Nobody can give their lives to two masters- it's either God or money (or self), but not both.

If we choose to obey God, then we must not worry about money. We go about the business of the Kingdom and trust God to supply all we need.

God feeds the birds and clothes the flowers so we can surely trust Him for our needs.

Don't worry. Trust God and all will be well.

Application
Where is the focus of my life, the thing my thoughts turn to? Is it God or is it physical security?

The people of the world stress about income, investment, house prices, interest rates and so on.

The people of God should not stress about these things. Yes, we a re engaged in the economy- work, buying food and housing etc. But these things should not cause us to worry.

Thirty years ago, God provided us with a low-interest loan that enabled us to pay off much of our house very quickly. Fifteen years later when He directed us to a very low salary ministry, our already paid for housing enabled us to obey His call.

God knows what we need in order to serve Him. We must trust Him to do what He promises.

Prayer
Father, it is easy to become anxious in our daily living. Help me to obey your direction and trust you for all I need. Amen,
