Reflection on Romans 5:12-19

Scripture
Just as through the disobedience of one man, many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man, many will be made righteous.

Observation
Paul draws an analogy between Adam and Jesus. Adam's sin brought sin and death to the whole of humanity. Even before Moses brought the law to describe what sin was, people still sinned regardless.

But God's grace is bigger than Adam's sin. Whereas sin brought condemnation, the gift of God brings justification. One act brought death, the other life.

Application
God's gift of salvation is open to all who will take hold of it. We've all sinned and we can all be declared righteous. We've all fallen short of God's standard but now God has opened freely the gates of grace.

This is not about where we are born. It's not about what we do for God. God's love is available to everyone.

Prayer
Thank you Lord for your amazing grace. Help me to walk in the power of grace today. Amen.
