Reflection on Romans 5:1-11

Scripture
By faith we have been made acceptable to God. And now because of our Lord Jesus Christ we live at peace with God.

Observation
Jesus has made us right with God, bringing us peace with God.

We look forward with hope to sharing in God's glory. In the meantime even suffering is good for us because it develops our character.

The Good News is amazing. While we were still enemies of God, Jesus died for us. Jesus died for sinners not for good people who did not need a saviour.

Application
God's grace is awesome (it's hard to avoid the word amazing!) in its extent. Not only did He send His Son to pay the price for our sins, He did this while we were still His enemies.

The world says “Kill your enemies before they kill you.” God says “I die for my enemies.”

By turning His enemies into sons and daughters through grace, God effectively ends the war. He brings peace to our hearts and the promise that we shall share His glory.

Prayer
Father, I stand in awe at your great love for me. Help me to understand all the implications of your grace and to live as your child. Amen.
