Reflection on Romans 8:6-11

Scripture
But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.

Observation
The choice is stark- death or life, flesh or spirit, son or Christ.

Our sinful nature is corrupted by sin and is therefore dying. There is no way we can escape this by our own efforts. Sin is killing us.

When we become christians, the Spirit of God comes in and reverses this. If Christ is in us, our body is dying but our spirit is alive. Not only that but God will raise us from death- body and spirit- just as He raised Christ,

Application
Because our sinful nature is leading us to death while the Spirit of God is drawing us to life, we need to ensure that our choices are for life, for God, for eternity.

Our direction is set by the little choices we make each day. But it starts with the first big choice- to ask Jesus to come in and redeem our lives, lifting us from the kingdom of death and into the kingdom of life.

If you haven't made that decision please do so today.

Prayer
Father you have made me for eternal life buy my sinful nature opposes you. Help me to live entirely for you. Amen.
