Scripture
The church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ who fills all things everywhere with himself.
Observation
Paul expresses praise for the church at Ephesus. He thanks God for them and prays for them to receive wisdom and insight from God.
God's power is incredibly great. It raised Christ from the dead. Now he, Christ, is far above all things for the benefit of the church which is His body.
Application
Paul constantly exhorts us to see things from God's perspective. We can easily feel overwhelmed by the pressures of life. We can feel that the forces, systems and powers of the world are far bigger then we are and impossible to change.
Paul reminds us that the power that raised Christ from the dead and lifted Him to heaven is now released through Christ for the benefit of the church.
Christ has ALL authority and has given that authority to us.
For God the principalities and powers are a small thing. Far from being a little cog in a big machine, Christians have the potential to drive, steer or even dismantle the machines.
Prayer
Father help me to see that the vast powers and forces that seem opposed to your way are in fact just little things to you. Show me the things that you want to change and grant me the grace to change them. Amen.
Great thoughts there, and thoughts we need to be reminded of frequently.
