Observation
Jesus tells us about the events of his return.

The Son of Man will come with power and glory and send his angels across the earth to gather his chosen ones.

We need to watch and be ready. The signs are there to be seen, just like a fig tree shows the seasons.

We don't know the exact time but, like servants working for an absent master, we must be ready for his return.

Application
Jesus is coming back. There is no doubt about this.

We don't know when it will be or how these things will happen. Jesus tells us we must be ready. That means three things.

1. We must be attending to God's work not our own work.

2. We must maintain a light grip on the things of this world. It could all go in the twinkling of an eye. We must instead look to the enduring eternal treasure.

3. If there are signs of Christ's return we need to keep a close watch on them and listen to what God wants.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me to be ready at all times for your return. Amen.
