Reflection on 1 Peter 3:18-22

Scripture
Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but He died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but was raised to life in the Spirit.

Observation
Christ suffered for our sins- one sacrifice bringing salvation to many. God raise Him to life.

Christ preached to the imprisoned spirits- those who disobeyed God long ago.

Noah built his boat ans was saved through the waters, just as christians today are saved through the waters (through- not by) of baptism.

Now Christ is in heaven in the place of honour and all authority is His.

Application
Jesus died to save us from the judgement that is to come. Noah built an ark that saved just eight people, but Jesus died to set free all who will receive His salvation.

That promise is available to everyone who will receive it. We will all have to face God's judgement, but the promise of Jesus is that we can trust Him to bring us through to eternal life.

Prayer
Thank you Jesus for dying to set me free from sin. Thank you for the promise that you will bring me through the judgement and into eternal life. Amen.
