Scripture
Jesus commanded them not to tell anybody. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it.
Observation
In Tyre, a woman whose daughter is possessed by an evil spirit comes to Jesus. She is a Syrophoenician woman, and at first Jesus puts her off by saying, “It's not right to take children's food and toss it to the dogs.” She responds and refuses to be put off. Her daughter is healed.
Jesus goes to the Decapolis where some people bring a deaf mute man to him. Jesus heals the man and tells the people not to tell anyone. But the amazement of the people causes them to speak of it.
Application
Two people with great needs are healed by Jesus. Mark tells us explicitly that the woman is a Greek (i.e. a Gentile) and we can infer that the man from the Decapolis is also a Greek.
Jesus' ministry was not restricted to the Jews or any one racial or social group. The grace of God is available to all people- Jews and Gentiles, black and white, young and old, male and female.
As Paul tells us, all of the divisions between people have been demolished by Jesus, and now nobody is beyond the grace of God.
Prayer
Father please show me the people whom I overlook or see as being impossible to redeem. Let my heart be open to love all people with the love of Christ. Amen.
