Scripture
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Observation
God's word is alive. It is sharp and it judges to our very heart. Nothing is hidden from God's sight and He will judge us.

Jesus is our high priest. He has been like us in every way- except for sin. For this reason we can approach God's throne with confidence, expecting to receive mercy and grace.

Application
God's word is living and active. The Bible is not just a dead book. As we read it, in submission to the Holy Spirit, the Bible speaks to us. It convicts is of sin and points us to Jesus, the great High Priest, and to the Father, the source of all grace and mercy.

Reading the word, meditating on it, taking it into our spirits daily- this is a key discipline, a means of grace, that we ignore at our peril.

Thank you Father for your word. Thank you for those who make the word available to all people. Please help me to read it daily and to understand your will for my life. Amen.
